BAHAMAS BIRDING OR NATURE TOURS

Half day birding or nature tours on New Providence and Paradise Island, starting at your hotel at 7 am or later until around noon. Included are use of binoculars, spotting scope, field guides and refreshments for the morning.

We can look for your target birds or just enjoy a morning visiting various habitat areas including different forest types, ponds, seashore, wetlands and the Bahamas National Trust nature reserves.

For the nature lover, this is an excellent way to experience the island away from the crowds and the concrete jungle. Enjoy the birds, butterflies, the native flora, learn about local bush medicine and visit some historic sites.

Experts and novices, all welcome.

$69 per person, minimum 2, or $120 for one person...

HALF-DAY OFF-ROAD BICYCLING TOURS

Experience off-road cycling, away from traffic and noise. On all-terrain bicycles, enjoy a guided tour of shady woodland trails, open forest, the seashore and mangrove creeks, visit the historic village of Adelaide.

Choose a relaxed, easy ride or a longer route. Also offered are more challenging rides for the seasoned cyclist.

Provided: All equipment and safety equipment, refreshments and fresh fruit, use of binoculars.

Birding or nature tours by bicycle also available.

$69 per person minimum 2 persons. Advance booking required.

Minimum age 9, maximum weight 200 lbs.

MULTI-DAY BIRDING TRIPS TO THE FAMILY ISLANDS

From November to May, multi day birding trips to Andros, Eleuthera, Cat Island, San Salvador, Crooked and Acklins Islands and Great Inagua.

These tours may be from one to four days in duration.
Maximum number of people is six, no minimum.
Ask for available dates and prices.

Carolyn Wardle has lived in the Bahamas since 1964 and has been seriously birding for many years. She is one of the first Bahamas Ministry of Tourism certified Birding Tour Guides and offers a range of bird watching tours in Nassau and the Family Islands of the Bahamas.

Since 1993, Carolyn has coordinated the Bahamas National Trust's Ornithology Group, by organizing monthly field trips on New Providence and multi-day trips to other islands. Members participate in several Christmas Bird Counts each year. She is also a director of the Society for the Conservation and Study of Caribbean Birds (SCSCB).

White Cheeked Pintail, Caribbean Dove, Bahama Woodstar, Cuban Grassquit, Cuban Pewee, La Sagra's Flycatcher, Loggerhead Kingbird, Red Legged Thrush, Bahama Mockingbird, Thick Billed Vireo, Bananaquit, Stripe Headed Tanager, Black Faced Grassquit, Greater Antillean Bullfinch. Summer, Gray Kingbird, Antillean Nighthawk, Black Whiskered Vireo; Winter, migrant warblers, shorebirds.

Birds on Andros:
Great Lizard Cuckoo, Cuban Emerald Hummingbird, Black Cowled Oriole, West Indian Whistling Duck, Bahama Swallow, Bahama Yellowthroat, Cuban Pewee, La Sagra's Flycatcher, Loggerhead Kingbird, Red Legged Thrush, Bahama Mockingbird, Thick Billed Vireo, Bananaquit, Stripe Headed Tanager, Black Faced Grassquit, Greater Antillean Bullfinch, Blue-Gray Gnatcatcher.

Birds on Eleuthera:
White Cheeked Pintail, Zenaida Dove, Great Lizard Cuckoo, Bahama Woodstar, La Sagra's Flycatcher, Bahama Mockingbird, Thick Billed Vireo, Bananaquit, Stripe Headed Tanager, Black Faced Grassquit, Greater Antillean Bullfinch.
